Construction work in Rehab damaged the two power lines supplying AUC new campus and caused a power cut since 7:30 AM today, Eng. Ahmed Sayed, General Supervisor Electrical infrastructure & Energy Conservation said.
Two of four generators are currently functioning and they support some of the lighting system of the campus but do not support any sockets, and a third generator is being repaired.
“The company determined the cause of the problem and electricity is expected to return in two hours,” Eng. Sayed said.
These incidences have happened several times because the campus is 12 km away from the main power source and construction work frequently damage the cable lines.
The longest power cut lasted for 3:30 to 4 hours.
